Jacob Van Eyck (1589-1657) was one of the most remarkable figures in Dutch musical life during the Golden Age: a nobleman, born blind, widely known as a leading expert in the field of bell casting and tuning and admired as a recorder player. This Courante is taken from his famous collection entitled Der Fluyten Lust-hof ("The Flute's Garden of Delight"). With about 150 pieces, it is the largest solo collection for one single instrument ever printed.
